On July 25, 2022, Warrap State Governor Aleu Ayieny Aleu petitioned to the national government to support the construction of the $15 million Akon International Airport. Construction on the airport began on August 28, 2023, with the project to be completed within two years. Mayleen Corporation was contracted to provide engineering and construction expertise, due to their experience of building within harsh environments.

Mayleen Corporation is a Kenyan-based conglomerate with diverse operations in a wide range of industries. Mayleen Corporation proudly operates in diverse sectors, showcasing prowess in civil engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing, steel fabrication, and the design and construction of power lines. LC Africa is proud to announce its contribution to the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project in Uganda, a collaboration signifying a pivotal advancement towards unlocking Uganda’s valuable oil resources while prioritizing responsible environmental practices.

The East African Crude Oil Pipeline Project (EACOP) is a pipeline designed to transport oil produced from Uganda’s Lake Albert oilfields to the port of Tanga in Tanzania, ultimately facilitating its sale to world markets.

Delivering a Remote Camp Solution in 21 Days

Responding to the project’s needs for a remote camp solution, LC Africa delivered 15 modified container units within a remarkable 21-day turnaround time. Our expertise in repurposing shipping containers ensured a sustainable and functional living environment for the pipeline workforce.

The 15 container units provided a variety of essential amenities for the camp, including:

  • Accommodation: Nine 40ft containers were meticulously converted into comfortable living quarters for the project personnel.
  • Food Service: Six 40ft containers were transformed into fully equipped kitchens and spacious dining areas, ensuring the well-being of the workforce.

The modification process for the container units for the Uganda pipeline camp took place at our Nairobi facility. Afterward, the container units were transported to the Uganda camp site, ensuring minimal disruption to the project timeline. Upon arrival, the units were seamlessly integrated to create a cohesive and functional living environment.

Sustainable Solutions Supporting Uganda’s Growth

By prioritizing repurposed shipping containers, LC Africa promotes a sustainable approach to infrastructure development. This aligns perfectly with Uganda’s commitment to responsible resource management.

LC Africa is proud to have partnered with esteemed organizations like Total Energies, Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), and CNOOC. Together, we demonstrated a commitment to building a brighter future for Africa, fostering economic development while upholding a sustainable approach to infrastructure development.

LC Africa, a leading company in remote mining and construction camp specialists, is excited to announce a strategic collaboration with Siemens Gamesa, a global leader in the wind power industry. This collaboration signifies a pivotal advancement towards supporting Ethiopia’s renewable energy ambitions and fostering environmental stewardship.

LC Africa’s expertise in remote industrial camp solutions is poised to play a critical role in facilitating the commencement and smooth operation of the wind project in Ethiopia. As Siemens Gamesa embarks on its inaugural wind power project in the country, LC Africa’s contribution becomes indispensable.

To kickstart the wind project, LC Africa has undertaken the construction of the first phase of the construction camp in Ethiopia. This phase involves the modification of numerous shipping container units to serve as essential facilities for the construction team. These units encompass office and conference facilities, a fully-equipped kitchen and dining area, as well as washrooms and locker facilities. The conversion process takes place at our facility located in Nairobi, after which the units are transported to Ethiopia via Northern Kenya. The design and adaptation of these containers ensure that the construction team is equipped with all necessary amenities to carry out their duties effectively and comfortably, even in the remotest of locations

Siemens Gamesa’s involvement in Ethiopia’s renewable energy landscape has been marked by securing the Assela wind farm project in partnership with Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP). Situated between Adama and Assela, this pioneering wind farm project is poised to deliver 100MW of clean, accessible power to the Ethiopian grid, benefiting hundreds of thousands of households. Aligned with Ethiopia’s ambitious objective of meeting 100% of its domestic energy demand through renewable sources by 2030, the Assela wind farm represents a significant milestone in the nation’s sustainable development journey.

The construction camp serves as a central hub for the project’s workforce, providing a conducive environment for coordination, collaboration, and rest. This infrastructure support from LC Africa enables Siemens Gamesa to focus on the deployment of its cutting-edge SG3.4-132 wind turbines, crucial components of the Assela wind farm. With LC Africa’s logistical support in place, Siemens Gamesa can proceed with confidence, knowing that the construction team is well-equipped and supported throughout the project’s lifecycle.

For further insights into LC Africa’s capabilities and contributions to sustainable development initiatives, interested parties are encouraged to reach out via phone at 0797968817 or email at info@liteconafrica.com.
